Beautiful skin thanks to cannabis?

CBD cosmetics are experiencing a hype. Stars like Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jennifer Aniston swear by this active ingredient from the hemp plant. CBD products are said to provide a brighter complexion and clearer skin, among other benefits. The Scandinavian brand MANTLE combines the highest quality CBD with other natural ingredients like bakuchiol or sea buckthorn extract, and is now conquering the international market as well. An interview with co-founder Josefin Landgård.

What inspired you to start MANTLE?I actually come from the tech industry, having co-founded one of the largest European online doctor platforms. However, I have always been obsessed with skincare and wanted to develop products that are effective but also clean. Through Sina's and my shared experiences, we were able to bring truly innovative products to the market, of which I am very proud.

What kind of CBD do you use and where do you source it from?Broad-spectrum organic CBD of the highest quality and potency. The cannabis leaves are grown on a small farm in Switzerland and hand-picked during a three-day window annually when the CBD has reached its maximum potential.

How does CBD affect the skin?

CBD fights free radicals, strengthens the immune system, and has antioxidant properties. It ensures more even, clearer, and more resilient skin.

What sets MANTLE apart from other beauty brands?

Among other things, that we offer innovative, clean, and sustainable products that represent the Scandinavian lifestyle and values.

What does the name refer to?MANTLE is a reference to the skin's acid mantle. It is the top layer of the skin barrier, a slightly acidic, delicate film that serves as the first line of defense against microbes and bacteria.

What's your favorite product?

At the moment, it's the Miracle Mask. It is truly amazingly efficient. It's our facial treatment in a jar - an instant lift.

How important is sustainability to the brand?

Very. Sustainability is not a marketing measure for us, but the basis for everything we do. I think it would be crazy not to work as sustainably as possible these days.
