An operation on the main artery depends on which segments are affected. If the aneurysm is in the aorta close to the heart or in the aortic arch, the chest is opened. The descending part is increasingly treated interventionally. If the aneurysm is close to the heart and the aortic valve is also affected, it may also need to be reconstructed or replaced.
Close-meshed check-ups in appropriate aorta centers are strongly recommended after such interventions.
