Rhythm therapy (via ablation)

The area of application is atrial fibrillation. If a therapy with rhythm-stabilizing medication does not lead to a rhythmic heartbeat, local tissue ablation may be necessary. This involves creating artificial scar lines on the heart and in the atrium to exclude disruptive conduction pathways. This can restore a regular heartbeat. Often, this procedure is minimally invasive and conducted by a cardiologist but it may also be necessary during aortic or mitral valve procedures. In such cases, it can be included in the surgery or performed as an independent procedure using a keyhole technique endoscopically.
