After an initial get-together and dinner on Friday evening at the Ducal Inn "Altes Bad" in Kreuth, the symposium got off to an energetic and enthusiastic start on Saturday morning.
The event was opened by Corinna Mühlhausen, following a welcome address by Managing Director Stephanie Neureuter. The trend and future researcher's keynote focused on the "Mega-trend Health – Opportunities and Risks". It quickly became clear that while health remains a top priority now and in the future, there is no single overarching trend — rather, it manifests in many different ways.
Health, too, is taking on new meaning as part of a sustainable and holistic ecosystem.
The health of tomorrow also exists in a new tension between online and offline. The most important task will be to connect people with their own health. Fascinating insights emerged from examples of Future Patient Journeys—pathways through the healthcare system tailored to milieu-specific preferences.

PREMIUM MEDICAL CIRCLE members from across all faculties then offered in-depth overviews of the latest trends in their respective fields. Dr. Juliane Bodo brought everyone up to speed on breast surgery, where the prevailing trend is a return to naturalness — both in materials and in size.
She also stepped in for her ailing colleague Dr. Caroline Kim, presenting the topic "Beauty meets Science." The key takeaway: the trend is moving toward multimodal treatment approaches with a focus on sustainability.
The next presentations focused on game changers in ophthalmology: Dr. Tobias Neuhann spoke about the origins of refractive surgery and the key breakthroughs of the 1980s, while his colleagueDr. Detlev Breyer discussed the game changers shaping today's cataractand refractive surgery and the improvements in quality of life they bring.
The morning wrapped up with a compelling presentation by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Siebenlist on the topic of "Artificial Intelligence in (Sports) Orthopedics". He outlined new possibilities and shared his experiences regarding where AI can and should play a supporting role, both at the physician and patient level.
The outlook is positive: from improved diagnostics or resource optimization to smart surgical techniques and robotics – AI has real potential when it is integrated thoughtfully and carefully, guided by the principles of ethics, legal clarity, patient data protection, and safety.
Refreshed after the lunch break, the afternoon session got straight to the point — quite literally. Dr. Siegfried Marquardt and Dr. Mark Sebastian demonstrated just how significant that point can be in their presentation, titled "When the teeth grind and the back aches." Their talk focused on craniomandibular dysfunction and the far-reaching ways in which bite can affect nearly every bodily function.
The conclusion here is the same: interdisciplinary approaches prove their worth in functional dentistry as well — and the team approach is the key.
Cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange and collaboration has always been at the heart of the PREMIUM network, which is now bringing all its activities together under the umbrella of the PREMIUM MEDICAL CIRCLE.
This includes the PREMIUM physician network and patient guides, the PREMIUM Quarterly magazine, the podcast "Feel good, live better," and various events. In her presentation, Managing Director and Publisher Stephanie Neureuter reflected on the developments of the past year and offered an outlook on the platform's commitments and future activities, under the motto "Understanding & Emerging."
The closing keynote, "Only the Sky is Higher" by Helga Hengge, was the perfect way to wrap up the afternoon, delivering a clear message: overcoming challenges requires a strong team, mutual trust, and belief in one's own abilities.
The author and extreme mountaineer took the audience along on her journey to the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest — keeping them on the edge of their seats until the very end, and not just with stunning images. She wove in subtle takeaways that anyone can draw from such a journey: pick yourself back up after setbacks, and never lose sight of your goal.
Take a moment to look back and take pride in the journey you've made so far. A team's strength comes from the diversity of its talents.
The presentation left even the experienced moderator Dr. Dominik Pförringer momentarily at a loss for words in his closing remarks — no small feat, given that the orthopedic surgeon and digital health expert had guided the day with his trademark precision.
Plenty of food for thought — all of which sparked lively conversation that carried on well into the evening at the closing dinner at Gut Kaltenbrunn. The outlook for the new year is bright: there is no shortage of excitement ahead.
