Happy Patient? Under this motto, the latest event in the Meet the Expert series took place, to which Stephanie Neureuter, CEO & Founder of the Premium Medical Circle, together with plastic surgeon Dr. Caroline Kim invited at the exclusive Munich Drivers & Business Club.

An interactive workshop by doctors for doctors, which focused on how to best deal with dissatisfied patients and why it can also be the doctor's fault if a situation escalates.

For this, actor Robert Lohr, known among others from the series 'Die Bergretter', took on different roles, sometimes playing a difficult doctor and sometimes an irate patient. The expert panel with gynecologist Dr. Elke Philipp, surgeon Prof. Dr. Tomas Hoffmann, and dermatologist Dr. Christian Merkel commented on the conversation situations and shared their own experiences – charmingly moderated by Dr. Caroline Kim.

In her own presentation, she uncovered the most common reasons for discontent between patients and doctors: primarily inadequate communication or too high or unrealistic expectations. The latter, by the way, mainly occur in elective or plastic surgery. Every 6th patient in her consultation, according to Dr. Kim, suffers from dysmorphophobia (a body image disorder).

Educational and amusing

Particularly fascinating were the stories of Prof. Dr. Hoffmann about his work in the expert office of the Bavarian Medical Association, where patients can turn to if they suspect a medical error by a doctor.

During the subsequent flying buffet on the terrace of the Drivers & Business Club, the discussions continued lively. A wonderful opportunity for doctors from various specialties to exchange ideas personally – and to enjoy the glorious summer evening in a relaxed atmosphere.
