“Imagine your body as a high-performance engine. The fuel? Glucose. The control unit? Hormones. And as with any engine, the quality of the fuel determines performance – and lifespan."
With these words, Dr. Alexandra Schoeneich opened our talk last night at PMC Connects, driven by Mercedes-Benz. And the evening at the Mercedes-Benz Studio at Odeonsplatz couldn't have been more fitting.
In front of 50 invited guests, Dr. Alexandra Schoeneich and Dr. Alexander Goedel talked about “The Engine & The Fuel: How Metabolism and Heart Influence Our Biological Clock” and why metabolic health and cardiovascular prevention can no longer be considered separately today.
Because what happens in the metabolism doesn't stay in the metabolism. "As a cardiologist, I see daily what a changed metabolism does to the heart. Germany has one of the highest cardiovascular mortality rates in Western Europe – and diabetes is a central driver," said Dr. Alexander Goedel.
A special focus was on GLP-1 receptor agonists, a real game-changer molecule at the interface of endocrinology and cardiology. Originally developed for diabetes therapy, they are now also changing the view on heart health, prevention, and long-term quality of life.
And that's exactly what Premium Medical Circle stands for: bringing together medical expertise, connecting disciplines, and discussing topics where new perspectives arise.
