Laser and flash lamp therapy

The Operation

Today, the standard is the ablative fractional laser. It distributes the light energy in a pinpoint pattern onto many small tissue areas. This creates numerous needle-stick-like wounds. The water-containing cells of the skin evaporate, and the skin peels off like after a sunburn. At the same time, the laser energy stimulates fibroblasts to form new collagen. Non-ablative fractional lasers leave the skin surface largely untouched, so you are socially acceptable again more quickly. The flash lamp (IPL) also works through light energy. Red veins and dark age spots absorb the light and are destroyed by the acting energy. With non-ablative laser and IPL, several sessions are usually necessary to achieve the desired effect.

Risks

Laser treatments have become significantly safer and more effective in recent years. Nevertheless, the laser should be in the hands of a specialist doctor.

After the Operation

After the treatment, the sensitive skin needs at least three months of sun protection. Improper application poses a risk of burns and pigmentation.
