LVATE Face Aesthetics

Aesthetic achievements in Munich

Anyone visiting the Face Aesthetics Institute LVATE for the first time might doubt that they are entering a doctor's workplace. It hardly resembles a typical practice: no reception desk, no classic waiting room, no staff in white coats. The elegant rooms on Ottostraße feel more like a chic boutique hotel, yet here, in Munich's Maxvorstadt, you are in the competent hands of Dr. Lukas H. Kohler and his expert team.

The specialist in plastic-aesthetic surgery often refers to the 300-square-meter LVATE institute as an anti-practice concept. Not only is aesthetic medicine important to him, but also an appealing environment: 'I like to surround myself with beautiful things and therefore didn't want to work in an uninspired, boring or sterile-looking environment.' Thus, the treatment rooms have been designed and furnished according to a very special concept – the surgeon was inspired by the anatomy of the face and its five layers (skin, subcutaneous fat, muscle & fascia tissue, deep fat, and bone).

"We have represented these layers with modern color and material worlds that run through all the rooms," reveals Dr. Kohler. Thus, Italian design classics invite you to linger and cashmere blankets make the treatment couches cozy, creating a relaxed atmosphere. "We have noticed that our guests immediately feel at ease and their fears, for example, of an injection, are somewhat reduced."

Dr. med. Lukas H. Kohler

From a very young age, it was the wish of Dr. Lukas Kohler to become a doctor. Even his great-grandfather was a doctor, running a general medical practice in his own home: the practice on the ground floor, the living quarters above. His grandfather took over this, while his father chose to train as a surgeon. Nevertheless, Lukas Kohler spent much of his childhood in the grandfather's house and got to know the general practice there.

Accompanying his father, a long-time hospital director in the Lower Rhine, Kohler often spent weekends at the hospital and browsed through a textbook on plastic and reconstructive surgery. This book was also the reason he decided to study plastic-aesthetic surgery. "The illustrations of these facial procedures were so fascinating that at almost 14 years old, I decided to work as a doctor in aesthetics," Kohler reveals.

He pursued this plan immediately after graduating from high school and completed his medical studies at three prestigious universities: the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, the University of Zurich, and the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, where he completed his dissertation with Magna cum laude. He spent his time as a junior doctor at the well-known Meoclinic in Berlin and the University Hospital Leipzig, where he successfully completed his specialist training before moving to the LMU Clinic in Munich.

During his six-year specialist training, the dedicated physician won three prestigious awards – the ICOPLAST Award of Excellence, a travel scholarship from the DGPRAEC (German Society for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery), and a fellowship from the ISAPS, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the world's leading professional association for specialists in aesthetic plastic surgery.

The address for minimally invasive facial treatments in Munich

Not only with his anti-practice concept, but also with his medical offerings, Dr. Kohler sets new standards – he decided to offer only injectables, i.e., minimally invasive facial treatments. In addition to classics like Botox or Hyaluronic acids Kohler relies on the latest anti-aging medicine treatments. These include radiofrequency-microneedling "Morpheus 8," the collagen booster Sculptra, or brand new - LVATE is the only practice in Munich - the laser-based Endolift method, which he and his colleague, Dr. Victoria Hoffmeister, a specialist in plastic and aesthetic medicine and international trainer for Galderma, use with great success.

"With just a minimally invasive, painless procedure, we can achieve immediately visible results," explains the doctor. Why? In Endolift, a hair-thin micro-optical fiber is gently guided under the skin, transferring laser energy directly to the tissue, causing the connective tissue to contract, stimulating collagen production, and reducing fat cells. For the physician, an absolute milestone in the spectrum of minimally invasive treatments.

With his expertise in facial aesthetics, it was a logical consequence for Kohler to also cover the treatment spectrum of dermatology, which is why since 2025, the renowned dermatologist and nutritionist Dr. Anne Gürtler has been part of the LVATE team. As head of dermatology, she deals with facial dermatoses such as acne or rosacea, as well as the treatment of vascular lesions or pigment spots. The experienced doctor relies on drug therapies or laser treatments and can additionally provide useful nutrition recommendations.

With medically-cosmetic signature facials, experienced beauticians also take care of a beautiful skin appearance. "In my view, the best results can only be achieved when we combine deep medical treatments with superficial cosmetic treatments," says Lukas Kohler.

The holistic approach is completed by a specially developed infusion program with highly concentrated active ingredients, vitamins, and trace elements. Particularly exciting: NAD+ infusions from the field of longevity medicine. This body-own co-enzyme promotes cell regeneration, provides energy, and can even repair damaged DNA. "Scientists believe that NAD+ is the key to staying healthy for as long as possible." For me, therefore, the ideal addition, so that one not only looks youthful but also feels that way!"
