The fact that Studio Zoubi is not an ordinary dental practice is already evident from the name. The location in Ibbenbüren also impressively shows that aesthetics and mindset form a special connection here. And the parallel between dentistry and architecture is quickly drawn: both stand for precision, delicacy, and craftsmanship.
Although the impressive three-story new building has a cool design, it appears warm and inviting: The facade impresses with strictly arranged gray larch wood slats into which glass surfaces seamlessly integrate, but the shape is organically rounded - a concept that has already won the building design and architecture awards. Perfectionism and quality that reflect the practice owner Dr. Firas Zoubi and his work.
Immediately after studying in Dresden and Münster and completing two master's degrees in Krems, Austria, Dr. Zoubi specialized in aesthetic-reconstructive dentistry, implantology and oral surgery. He then worked for over ten years in the Bocholter practice Kleinsman/Varzideh, where he acquired expertise and a passion for perfection. The sale of the practice was a sign for him to take new paths. And during the lockdown, when he spent a lot of time with his family in Ibbenbüren, he realized how important this place is for him.
So he decided to accept the offer from his father, radiologist Dr. Ejad Zoubi, who had already offered him the property in 2013 with the vision of founding a practice. Thus, his own practice gradually took shape, with which he fully identifies emotionally. It was opened in 2023.
Open, bright, and transparent was the architectural directive for the interior. The space is dominated by wood and concrete, creating a modern, urban loft character. The treatment rooms are housed on the upper floor. In the light-flooded ground floor, in addition to the reception desk, there is a lounge area, separated only by natural wood slats, which resembles more a hotel lobby than a waiting room.
There is also a photo studio for documenting the treatment. In a glass laboratory, patients can experience live the artistry with which the "in-house" dental technician Anja Krüßmann builds and constructs a tooth layer by layer (the "dusty" work takes place in a second, classical lab in the basement). And they can see how much individuality, passion, and attention to detail goes into it.
"Every dentist is only as good as their dental technician."

Besides quality, emotion is the keyword for Dr. Firas Zoubi in his work. "It's about much more than just creating beautiful teeth," he says. "A custom-made Smile Makeover can touch and change patients so much that they go through life significantly more positively." In every sense: parts of the facial muscles can slacken over the years because people tend to hide their teeth when smiling or speaking by trying not to pull the lips over the teeth. If this mechanism is deprogrammed through dental treatment, the facial muscles are reactivated. And ultimately, this leads to the release of happiness hormones. Thus, both the inner attitude and the effect and charisma of the patients on their environment improve.
How well this works, they experience firsthand in advance - with the help of so-called mock-ups. These premium temporary solutions are created on-site by dental technician Anja Krüßmann. The basis for this is provided by intraoral scans, portrait photos in the in-house photo studio, and a wax model. Not to forget the intensive conversations with the patients, which give the expert a feel for their wishes and needs.
For Dr. Zoubi, the mock-up is the most important step to a custom-made smile because: The new dental situation can immediately be documented and analyzed - and most importantly, it can be felt in the mouth by the patients. An interaction that creates unique quality. This is a big advantage over the purely digital simulation on the computer, according to the dentist. "It can always be corrected, but the patients see and feel exactly where the journey is going at every stage of development."
Because - and this is where emotion comes into play again: "Many patients are afraid that they will no longer be themselves afterward," says Dr. Zoubi. "But I don't want to change their personality, I want to make a better version of the person based on their characteristics."
And that, according to Firas Zoubi, often becomes a small journey back in time - aesthetically as well as functionally. If, for example, the teeth have been "ground down" over the years, a so-called bite elevation by building up the side teeth - through crowns or so-called table tops (veneers for the chewing surface) - changes the facial image: Volume automatically returns to the face, and wrinkles are also reduced. At the same time, this makes an aesthetic correction more durable: If the bite is correct, ceramic veneers in the front area, for example, with which color, shape, and tooth position are corrected, can remain in the mouth for a lifetime with good aftercare - because they are not immediately ground down again by a missing bite in the back. And here, Dr. Zoubi relies, if possible, on so-called "non-prep veneers" - ultra-thin ceramic veneers where no grinding of the teeth is necessary, and the tooth substance remains completely intact.
One of Dr. Zoubi's favorite disciplines is the so-called red aesthetics, which involves everything related to the gums. Keyword "Gummy Smile", when, for example, too much gum is visible when smiling. Here, corrections with the laser or a minimally invasive procedure lead to a more even appearance. But even in the opposite case, when there is too little gum and the root becomes visible, the expert provides balance: With a graft from the lateral palate area, the gum can be rebuilt here - the tooth is protected and doesn't look unnaturally long.
"It only becomes artificial when one tries to be more perfect than nature."

Increasingly, the dedicated dentist focuses on Clean Dentistry. Biological dentistry has gained more importance for him in recent years, partly because his father died from an autoimmune disease. This includes, for example, the elimination of interference fields, which provides noticeable relief for the immune system.
Keyword "silent inflammation": For this reason, Firas Zoubi regards a root canal treatment and thus the retention of a dead tooth more as a medium-term rather than a final solution, as it can lead to chronic inflammations. Metal-free dental restorations or ceramic implants are among his expertise. He is convinced that the latter will become the gold standard in the next ten to fifteen years due to the continuous improvement of materials.
And this matches his credo: "If we can bring about a positive change for our patients through our work, then we are making the world a better place. There is hardly anything that gives more meaning."
