Age healthier thanks to longevity research: Innovative supplements for the immune system, joints, skin, and more
We are living longer, but relatively speaking, not necessarily healthier. The reasons for this are as varied as they are well-researched: poor nutritional status, high sugar consumption, too much stress, too little exercise. The young health start-up Moleqlar is working to ensure that the aging process does not necessarily come with negative side effects.
Founded in 2020 by three medical students as a "research-driven longevity company," supplements are developed based on longevity research findings, designed to slow aging a little and maintain and improve health with their special ingredients.
"All our supplements contain substances that target at least one aging process," explains Max Griessinger, one of the founders. The secondary plant compound resveratrol, for example, is a powerful radical scavenger that protects cells from the much-discussed so-called free radicals.
These primarily cause visible damage to the skin, which can be seen as wrinkles and uneven skin texture. Additionally, it positively affects the cardiovascular system and lowers cholesterol levels.
With BodyMindCheck, three sports-enthusiast brothers from Austria have launched functional supplements on the market, aiming to sustainably enhance performance, health, and well-being. The trigger was the much-too-early death of their mother, which showed Dr. Stefan Sladeček and his brothers that the most important thing in life is health.
Thus, the biochemist and molecular biologist developed formulations that are perfectly tailored to individual health goals thanks to their innovative combination of biomedicine and traditional herbal medicine.
Amusing names like "Geistesblitz" or "Freudensprung" are intended to give a direct indication of the promised effects of the dietary supplements. "Immunschild," for example, provides a strong and stable immune system with zinc, vitamin C, and turmeric.
"Innenreinigung" is supposed to boost metabolism and fat burning by supporting the liver, stomach, and intestines with vitamin B2, choline, chromium, milk thistle, and green tea. More info: bmc.fit
For 30 years, biologist Ernst-Otto von Drachenfels worked in infectiology and oncology, developing antibiotics and cytostatics to be used in therapeutic concepts for diseased patients.
"But despite all the successes of modern medication, you also need your body's own immune system to get healthy," says von Drachenfels. This can be successfully supported with selected vitamins, micronutrients, and antioxidants.
The company "NutriDual," founded by von Drachenfels with his daughters Carmen and Eva, therefore makes it its mission to produce dietary supplements that combine long-standing pharmaceutical knowledge with the fundamental principles of daily nutrition.
Unlike other products, NutriDual distributes the active ingredients into two capsules – for day and night. The founder: “During the day, vitalizing and protective active substances such as vitamin C, zinc or green tea extract are used, while at night calming and balancing substances such as vitamin B1, selenium or cranberry extract do their work.”
Through this system, the body receives more than 20 important nutrients that are coordinated in such a way that mutual interactions are avoided. NutriDual is not only committed to health, but also to nature and the environment. The company supports the non-profit organization "Project Wings", which is currently building the first village out of so-called ecobricks – building blocks made from recycled plastic – in the Indonesian rainforest.
What gave you the idea to use hyaluronic acid as a dietary supplement?
I borrowed the basic idea from veterinary medicine, more specifically from equestrian sports. A veterinarian I know brought a feed with hyaluronic acid to the market for sport horses, which almost cured their joint problems. After riders also tried the feed and their joint problems disappeared, I had a vision: I want to bring a dietary supplement with hyaluronic acid for joint support to the market.
How long did the development take and what had to be considered?
My partner and I started in 2009, and after two years of tinkering, we had the formulation to the point where the molecular structure of the hyaluronic acid was so fine that it could be absorbed and processed by the body.
What distinguishes the oral intake of your hyaluronic acid from the variant administered by injection?
When hyaluronic acid is injected into the joint or skin, there is suddenly an unnaturally high amount at that spot, which breaks down quite quickly. In contrast, if it is taken regularly, the body's own hyaluronic acid stores can refill. Positive effects show over time and remain.
What exactly is ArthroFill supposed to achieve?
Primarily, it is intended to keep our body fit and mobile for as long as possible, or to support its mobility. Our vegan hyaluronic acid thus forms a protective layer for the cells, acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in the joints, transports nutrients, and retains moisture. A nice side effect – the skin also benefits, with wrinkles and lines being reduced.
Your hyaluronic acid is available as a drink, but also in tablet form. What is the difference?
In the liquid formulation, we combine hyaluronic acid with vitamin C, copper, manganese, and zinc. Perfect substances to protect the cells from oxidative stress and boost the immune system.
The tablets, on the other hand, additionally contain mainly organic sulfur compounds, which are important for cartilage and connective tissue. Vitamins B6 and B12 take care of an effective energy metabolism. If you will, the liquid form is the beauty drink, and the tablets are the fitness variant.
How long does one need to take ArthroFill before noticing an effect?
We recommend taking a daily dose for at least four weeks, preferably six weeks, to feel significant changes in the body.
