Privatärztliche Praxis für Hämatologie, Internistische Onkologie und Integrative Medizin
The portrait of Dr. med. Gesche Brannolte Raab is currently being processed.
We are looking forward to completing her profile in the department of Prevention shortly.
For her practical year, she then moved to the south. She completed the AIP (Arzt im Praktikum) in oncology at the Schwabinger Krankenhaus in Munich, and dedicated her doctoral thesis to the topic of breast cancer in radiotherapy. This was followed by positions at renowned university and clinical institutions such as Munich-Großhadern, Schwabing, Traunstein, and Karlsruhe – always in the fields of hematology-oncology and internal medicine. In 2011, she passed the specialist examination in internal medicine, and in 2014, she became a specialist in hematology and oncology at the Klinikum Großhadern. In retrospect, she says: "These stations were an extremely enriching time in my career, as I was able to further my education in an extremely diverse way."

Even after these important professional milestones, it was clear to Dr. Brannolte-Raab that learning in medicine never stops. After her time at the clinic, she worked in an oncology practice in northwestern Munich and simultaneously completed a master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the TU Munich. "Even after my specialist training, I further specialized and completed a study of TCM alongside my work, which I completed with my master's thesis during the COVID-19 pandemic," she reports. This is complemented by numerous further trainings, including in functional medicine, regulatory medicine, and currently in nutritional medicine. From this impressive range emerges a treatment approach that brings together scientifically oriented medicine with complementary, individually tailored concepts.
After many years in cities of varying sizes, the desire grew in her to orient herself professionally more towards rural areas. When in 2020 a general medical private practice at Tegernsee was offered in the Bavarian Medical Journal, she seized the opportunity and took it over, along with the existing patient base. But after a relatively short time, she realized that she missed the oncology patients and therefore looked for a way to reintegrate this important part of her medical calling into her daily routine. Then exactly this opportunity arose: An oncologist established at Tegernsee wanted to retire and was looking for a successor who was not only professionally skilled but also holistically oriented. For Dr. Brannolte-Raab, this was a special moment: "Another decisive coincidence, because I was able to combine all my focuses and thus serve a broadly positioned patient base."
Today, different people come to her practice in the middle of Rottach-Egern: oncology patients as well as healthy people who want to do something preventive for their health. This mix corresponds exactly to the self-image of the doctor. A central focus of her work is internal oncology. Here, Dr. Brannolte-Raab accompanies people with cancer through various phases of illness - from diagnostic classification to therapy planning to aftercare. She takes into account both molecular and genetic differences of tumors as well as the respective stage of the disease to develop a treatment strategy that is as precise and individually meaningful as possible. She coordinates the necessary diagnostics and works - when necessary - closely with an interdisciplinary network of specialists, clinics, and university institutions. The spectrum also includes therapy support, side effect management, support with oral cancer medications, aftercare, second opinions, and the assessment of familial cancer risks.
"The prevention of cancer is particularly close to my heart."

A central focus is on prevention. "Cancer prevention is extremely close to my heart. It is assumed today that many cancers develop over a period of 10 to 15 years before they become clinically visible. And if you recognize these signals early enough, you can successfully counteract them." This sentence makes it clear how much Dr. Brannolte-Raab understands medicine not only as a reaction to illness but also as an opportunity to protect and strengthen health early on. Another important aspect of her work is the holistic integrative support of cancer patients. Conventional medical therapies are supported by complementary methods, if these are sensible in the individual case. The aim is to alleviate side effects, improve quality of life, stabilize the immune system, and promote regeneration. For this purpose, the doctor incorporates - as needed - elements from micronutrient medicine, infusion therapy, TCM, regulatory medicine, and functional medicine. Here, too, her special strength is evident: the ability to combine different medical approaches wisely and responsibly.
In addition to oncology, hematology is also an important focus of the practice. It is about the careful clarification of benign and malignant diseases of the blood and lymphatic system. "I place special emphasis on early, targeted diagnostics, which, depending on the question, includes detailed anamnesis, blood tests, ultrasound, as well as further diagnostics such as bone marrow biopsies in collaboration with specialized partners," explains the specialist. She knows exactly that not every abnormality requires immediate therapy. Sometimes closely monitored observation is the better and more sensible way - this is also part of responsible medicine for her.
"Even when entering my practice with its calm and friendly ambiance, my patients feel at ease and, according to their own statements, already significantly less ill."
Dr. Gesche Brannolte-Raab, M.D.
In general, the practice understands itself as a place for medicine with an expanded focus. Functional and stress medical approaches help to better understand complex relationships in the body, systematically capture them, and derive individual therapy paths from them. Particularly formative for Dr. Brannolte-Raab is the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine. "Even 2000 years ago, the Chinese knew how body and psyche are connected in various clinical pictures. Today we know that, for example, chronic or stress-associated complaints can be possible triggers of cancer." That is why she also relies on well-founded micronutrient concepts based on lab-supported diagnostics, acupuncture and TCM, as well as psychosomatic basic care that equally considers mental and physical health.
What makes her practice so special, beyond that, is the atmosphere. Together with her highly qualified team, the specialist has created a place where medical excellence and human well-being meet. The bright rooms are lovingly furnished with Bavarian antiques and Chinese art. On around 240 square meters, the practice includes, in addition to the consultation room, two infusion rooms, an ultrasound room, and a separate area with beds where patients can receive their treatments in a particularly protected environment. For Dr. Brannolte-Raab, this aspect is also part of the treatment concept: "As soon as my patients enter my practice with its calm and friendly atmosphere, they come to rest and feel – according to their own statements – significantly less ill."
