Dr. Janna Harder

Augenärztin im Ludwigpalais

Look good

Healthy eyes and a good appearance represent quality of life and aesthetics. You can already feel that this is also the claim at Dr. Janna Harder's practice concept even before the door opens: It is located at Odeonsplatz, in one of Munich's most beautiful classical ensembles, the Ludwigpalais. Coming from the famous Ludwigstrasse with its magnificent buildings, turning around the corner, you already stand at the entrance to a beautiful courtyard and the private practice. The glass windows in the door allow a first glimpse inside. At the reception, you feel like you are checking into a small, fine hotel. It's no coincidence, as the doctor, who developed the design concept herself, says: “I chose natural materials like oak wood, brass, linen, and muted colors to create a calming atmosphere, which is partly reminiscent of a boutique hotel .” Calming atmosphere is the key word, because something else is noticeable: There is no usual practice hustle and bustle here. While waiting for your appointment – which is already very rare, as the practice management is perfectly organized – you can enjoy a cappuccino and let your eyes wander over the stylish flower arrangements on the mid-century tables.

Gentle eyelid lifting with radiofrequency

But sometimes good care or small interventions are no longer enough. "Are droopy eyelids first once they are formed, they do not go away on their own," says Dr. Harder. Even in the lower eyelid area, the elasticity of the skin visibly decreases with the years, connective tissue and muscles slacken, causing fatty tissue to appear as so-called tear sacs. In order to remedy this as gently as possible, she has developed a special eyelift procedure that she performs in her practice's own operating rooms. The difference in her "Munich EyeLid Concept" compared to common methods of eyelid tightening: "Usually only the excess skin is removed. Superficially, droopy eyelids, dark circles, and wrinkles can be quickly corrected in this way," explains the expert. "However, newer findings show that targeted radiofrequency therapy can achieve more sustainable results." Therefore, after the skin incision, which is performed with a radiofrequency probe, she also treats the deeper supporting layers with high-frequency electromagnetic waves. This strengthens the eyelid muscles, the heated collagen fibers contract and create a long-lasting tightening effect. In addition, the body is stimulated to produce new, high-quality collagen. If necessary, excess fatty tissue can also be removed or redistributed. Dr. Janna Harder makes the fine incisions in the upper lid crease or below the lash line in such a way that the fine scars are not visible later. Or she hides them, as with transconjunctival lower eyelid tightening, inside the conjunctiva, making them completely invisible. Another advantage of this method: it is low in bleeding. collagen to form. If necessary, excess fatty tissue can also be removed or redistributed. Stress-free preparation and aftercare

To make the operation as stress-free as possible, you have the choice between a purely local anesthesia, twilight sedation, or general anesthesia, which is managed by a competent anesthesia team. To support healing before and after the operation, the doctor combines a range of holistic measures – such as administering Arnica globules, which should be taken three days prior to reduce bleeding and swelling. Or the Hilotherapy: The thermo-healing process not only reduces possible bleeding or swelling after the operation through even cooling but also supports the body's self-healing powers. Additionally: special aftercare products to care for and protect the sensitive skin after the surgery. By the way: Because drooping eyelids not only make you look tired but often also restrict the field of vision, the doctor can, in many cases, achieve partial coverage of the costs by private health insurance companies with a visual field measurement and an expert report. And to showcase the "new" eyes even more beautifully, there is an exclusive collaboration with star makeup artist Luis Huber, who, upon request, reveals his best tips and tricks for perfect eye makeup.

Whatever you decide on at Dr. Janna Harder's practice, her goal is always: "I want the patients to have a good feeling when they leave here. And look fresher, but naturally."
