Praxis für Ästhetische und Plastische Chirurgie
It's a good thing that Dr. Caroline Kim didn't stick to her first choice of study, because Munich would have been without an outstanding doctor in the field of aesthetic surgery Initially, the art-loving high school graduate wanted to study architecture, but a trial visit to a construction site quickly put her off this plan. Therefore, she turned to her second career choice and started her medical studies at LMU Munich with a scholarship from the Government of Upper Bavaria for the gifted, completed part of her practical year in Paris, and spent time abroad whenever possible, for example for her doctoral thesis in Palo Alto, USA.
During her studies, Dr. Kim completed her first internship in the operating room and found her medical calling during an assistantship at a cesarean section birth – she wanted to become a surgeon. Thus, she intensified and perfected her skills in plastic surgery, general surgery, and thoracic surgery at the Munich Klinikum Großhadern. The prospect of only operating on appendixes or similar in her professional future was not enough for the dedicated physician, so she decided to switch to the creative field of surgery, namely plastic-aesthetic surgery.
In 2003, she passed the German specialist examination for plastic and aesthetic surgery and voluntarily took the European specialist examination in 2004. After that, she immediately became self-employed as a practicing physician.
"A youthful eye area makes the entire face appear fresher."

For 20 years, Dr. Kim received her patients in her friendly practice right at the historic Theresienwiese. From March 2025, you will find her expertise at another equally beautiful location in Munich: the English Garden. Here, in the midst of greenery and yet very central in the city, lies her new workplace, nestled in an idyllic landscape. In the renowned business district, the Lodenfrey-Park, is the very aesthetic new practice building – sand-colored interior, floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the Schwabinger Bach, a stylish waiting room.
On 400 square meters, it offers several treatment rooms as well as a separate operating tract where Dr. Kim and her team can perform all operations on an outpatient basis. For patients who have a longer journey ahead or behind them, rooms can be booked at the neighboring Hilton Hotel Tucherpark. Free parking is available at the practice itself, so the annoying search for a parking space is eliminated, and you can quickly get into and out of the building.
Her main focus is still clearly on the youthful design of the face with facelifts, eyelid and wrinkle corrections: "At the moment, I have several every day Eyelid surgeries. Under local anesthesia, excess skin can be removed in about 40 minutes and protruding fat that causes under-eye bags can be distributed. After just a week, not much of the procedure is visible anymore - the fine seam hides in the eyelid crease and will fade over time," explains the surgeon
"Not only my patients are always impressed by this small procedure that has such a big effect, but I am too. Shortly after the operation, the eyes appear more open and awake. The entire eye area - and ultimately the whole face - looks younger and more radiant." However, the demand for a face-neck lift has also increased significantly. "This surgery is the only way to smooth the cheek and neck area long-term, and with a very natural result," reveals Dr. Kim.
In terms of youthfulness, the experienced physician, who regularly stays in contact with her international colleagues, especially from South Korea, naturally also relies on non-invasive treatments. These include, in addition to Botox and hyaluronic acid increasingly common are so-called collagen-stimulating treatments like radiofrequency microneedling, CO2 laser, or treatments with polynucleotides. This can effectively counteract the three-dimensional aging signs of the face without surgery, achieving particularly natural results.
Even when it comes to breast reduction, breast augmentation Whether it's about implants or autologous fat, lifting or reconstruction, Dr. Kim is one of the first places to go in Munich. The doctor was able to identify an interesting trend: "For a good two years now, I have observed that more and more women are having their breast implants removed and are instead switching to autologous fat or a lift."
She attributes this to the general societal trend towards naturalness and sustainability - women are increasingly looking for alternatives to artificial implants. "A treatment with autologous fat has two decisive advantages. On the one hand, the body accepts its own material excellently, and on the other hand, liposuction removes fat from another area, so you can also model the body's silhouette slimmer," explains the specialist.
"The most joy I get is when my patients are satisfied and have gained quality of life."
