All-ceramic crowns with advantages

Dental crowns are placed over the treated and prepared tooth like a protective shell. There is a wide selection of different materials and methods for dental crowns. In addition to the protective function for the treated tooth, they fulfill an aesthetic aspect. With a ceramic crown, even ground-down or broken teeth can achieve a beautiful shape.

Verblendkrone

The core (made of a metal alloy) of this dental crown is completely (full veneer) or partially covered with ceramic, at least on the externally visible side of the tooth. It is known as metal-ceramic because the ceramic substance is fired onto the metal alloy.

Full ceramic crown

It consists exclusively of ceramic without a metal alloy as a base. It is recommended for high aesthetic standards aesthetic requirements in terms of a particularly natural-looking shape and color. From an aesthetic point of view, modern full-ceramic crowns are the best solution. They have exactly the same appearance and surface structure as natural tooth substance and adapt to the environment like a chameleon through embedded reflective color particles. Restrictions: None.

However, if the entire dental apparatus, the tooth substance is destroyed or the teeth are loose, alternative solutions must be sought. So-called wax-ups or mock-ups are temporarily placed on the teeth, giving the patient the opportunity to have a clear idea of the aesthetic result before the treatment begins. At this stage, the shape and color can be varied according to the patient's wishes.
