Dermatologische Privatpraxen in Hamburg und München
Therefore, dermatologist Dr. Susanne Steinkraus focuses on holistic treatments in her private dermatology practices in Hamburg and Munich. It may well happen that patients who come in for an injection initially receive acne or rosacea treatment. "The overall picture is important," she emphasizes, "and when it comes to aesthetics, skin conditions also play a role, among other things." That's why it's essential for her to provide comprehensive information to patients - not only about what else might be possible beyond their desire for something like fuller lips, but also that, in individual cases, a dental treatment may also be considered to achieve the desired effect.
To ensure her work is as sustainable as possible, the doctor always tries to explore all options and is happy to work interdisciplinarily if needed. For example, on the subject of skin during menopause with an endocrinologist, as she knows: The aesthetic result is even better when the hormonal situation is taken into account and corrected if necessary. Likewise, with the thyroid issue: if it is imbalanced, even the best dermatological support for the hair is of little use. Expert knowledge of specialists is therefore a valuable addition here.
"The important thing is what makes sense and whether it makes sense right now - regardless of age."
Dr. med. Susanne Steinkraus
First things first – is the motto of the dermatologist, so she always considers the person as a whole: from the life stage they are in to the skincare they use. Only then can she develop her tailored 360-degree approach of prevention, maintenance, and restoration. "If someone is very stressed, a few days of vacation are initially better than anything else," she reports. "After that, you can calmly discuss everything else."
Sometimes a simple feel-good treatment at the dermatologist's cosmetic institute helps at the moment. But maybe it's just the Botoxinjection that makes you look more relaxed in the mirror and brings positive feedback from the outside. "What matters is what makes sense and whether it makes sense right now – regardless of age," says Susanne Steinkraus. For her, it's not about just fulfilling what a patient wants, but about achieving the best and most natural result. "A dimple or a wrinkle can be just what makes a face interesting – whereas you might want to address what gives a negative, tired facial expression." Therefore, she takes a lot of time for conversations and sometimes advises against procedures. She owes that to her patients.
"Aesthetic medicine must be sustainable."
Dr. med. Susanne Steinkraus
Ethics in medicine are important to the dermatologist, who comes from a family of doctors – that's why she started in the first place. She studied human medicine at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and completed her specialist training as a dermatologist at the university dermatology clinic Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Nordklinikum Nuremberg. Additionally, during her work as a dermatologist, she qualified with training in nutritional, anti-aging, and sports medicine. From 2006, she moved to the Dermatologikum in Hamburg. In 2015, she founded her own private practice in the charming Hamburg district of Harvestehude – near the Außenalster and the city center.
In the elegant, modernly equipped practice (with its own cosmetic institute), classical and operative dermatology, aesthetic dermatology, and laser medicine, as well as medical cosmetics, are offered at a high level. The team, consisting of four other doctors and six beauticians, is highly qualified and as patient-oriented as Dr. Susanne Steinkraus. This also applies to the new location in downtown Munich – the practice and team in the exclusive premises of the Aesthetic Center are still being set up. But soon the whole package of measures will be possible there as well. The doctor currently commutes between Munich and Hamburg..
Despite all her experience, the topic of further training and education remains important to her. "You always pick up something and never stop learning," she says and regularly participates in fresh-ups on topics such as anatomy. She also likes to share her knowledge in lectures and doctor training sessions. Favorite topic: The Full-Face Approach, her concept to make the skin look better and healthier layer by layer, from the outside in and from the inside out.
In doing so, she relies on an individual mix & match of different procedures for a maximally natural appearance. Among the most exciting possibilities are biostimulants, which, when introduced into the skin, stimulate collagen formation from within and make the skin look sustainably fresher – such as polynucleotides and polylactic acid. Because these new players are very combinable with other methods and play alongside Hyaluron plays an outstanding role in skin quality. Speaking of new active ingredients or procedures: They are only established in the practices of Dr. Susanne Steinkraus when studies and experience have completely convinced them. Because, as the passionate doctor says: "It’s about the well-being of my patients."
