Augenzentrum Prof. Dr. med. Holzer & Prof. Dr. med. Rabsilber
Prof. Dr. Mike Holzer is a specialist in ophthalmology with a focus on refractive laser and cataract surgery. For over two decades, he has significantly shaped operative ophthalmology in Germany - scientifically, clinically, and technologically. Today, he treats patients at the Weinheim location - with surgical precision, calm presence, and excellent technical equipment.
As the senior consultant at the University Eye Hospital Heidelberg, Prof. Holzer was a driving force in the department of refractive surgery there - and one of the first surgeons to use the femtosecond laser in cataract surgery. To this day, he uses it for particularly precise and tissue-sparing incisions - also for implantations of monofocal, trifocal, or EDOF lenses. In addition to Femto-LASIK, he also offers the touch-free SmartSurfACE / transPRK procedure - particularly suitable for sensitive corneas. His goal: vision independent of glasses with maximum safety.
"We also correct combined refractive errors so precisely that patients are independent of glasses afterward."
Prof. Dr. med. Mike Holzer
For many years, Prof. Holzer was part of the International Vision Correction Research Centre (IVCRC) in Heidelberg - a center for studies on lenses, laser procedures, and diagnostics. He maintains close ties with Heidelberg University Medicine to this day - as an adjunct professor as well as a speaker in professional societies and a consultant for new technologies.
Together with Prof. Tanja Rabsilber, who is in charge of the conservative focus in Mannheim, Prof. Holzer forms a team that brings together operative and conservative ophthalmology - digitally networked, humanly approachable, and medically at the highest level. His surgical signature is evident in every incision - thoughtful, clean, individual.
