With Sensibility and Precision

Anyone with an appointment with Kristina Wiedelmann-Breloer in Frankfurt's Westend immediately notices the slightly different atmosphere. Little reminds one of a doctor's office – it feels more like a visit to friends. “It is furnished the way I would feel comfortable,” the doctor describes the concept of her practice. And this also underscores the attitude the specialist in ear, nose, and throat medicine and aesthetic medicine has towards her patients. “I don't like going to the doctor myself, so I always consider how I or a family member would want to be treated.” Especially with ENT doctors, where there is an acute spectrum and patients with infections or allergy complaints are really not feeling well, this change in perspective pays off.

With full energy – Kristina Wiedelmann-Breloer in polo, where precision and passion matter outside the practice too.

In her waiting room, if at all, you only meet a few people at the same time – solely to minimize the risk of infection. To accommodate her patients even more, she offers consultations until 8 p.m. or even on Saturdays. In acute cases, she can also be reached outside of consultation hours. "I want to give my patients the opportunity to be seen and treated immediately. Especially with children – if they have earaches, I can't say: Come back in three days." It's important to her that everyone feels cared for and well looked after. A practice of classic style that emphasizes the human aspect. "I value that you already speak with people when making an appointment – and not with an AI."

In fact, the practice has been around for over 30 years. Wiedelmann-Breloer started there 14 years ago and has been the sole owner for five years. The professional path of the native Berliner began classically: studies in Marburg and Munich, specialist training at the St. Gertrauden Hospital, a teaching hospital for the Berlin Charité. This was followed by stations in Switzerland, the USA, and Brazil, where she worked with the legendary plastic surgeon Ivo Pitanguy.

The surgical school continues to shape her to this day – but her perspective widened. Her work today goes far beyond the surgical field and is significantly more diverse – an aspect that greatly appeals to the passionate doctor.

In her practice, she covers the entire ENT spectrum – from infections, hearing disorders, dizziness to chronic inflammations. She also offers non-invasive aesthetic treatments. Another focus is on allergology. Crucial in all of this is the claim not to reduce medicine to symptoms, but to see the person as a whole. "Many diseases we see in ENT are dependent on various factors," she says. "That's why I look beyond – blood levels, nutrition, gut health, lifestyle. Everything is interconnected."

When it comes to diagnostics, she develops a detective-like instinct. She is supported by state-of-the-art practice equipment such as a PCR device, high-resolution ultrasound, or a FeNO device that analyzes breathing air and indicates whether it is an allergy or an infection. The repertoire also includes blood tests and stool samples – all to quickly get a comprehensive picture. Often, regulating the composition of gut bacteria or vitamin balance is enough to significantly reduce allergies. And because patients often react intolerantly to conventional dietary supplements, she developed her own – without preservatives and colorants, and without table salt, produced by a regional pharmacist. After conducting a study in the practice, she finally brought the powder, a combination of various bacterial strains and vitamins, to market under the name "Just M" (www.just-m.life). The study showed her how important supplementation is: surprisingly many patients had a significant deficiency in various vitamins.

"My goal is to rebuild patients—not just treat their symptoms."

She also takes her own path with infections – and that does not mean: quickly prescribe antibiotics. "You should first check what the patient is actually missing. Within a few minutes, it can be determined in the practice using the inflammation level and a swab or PCR test what type of pathogen it is. Only then can you, if necessary, administer an appropriate antibiotic," says the doctor. In her experience, hasty administration of antibiotics does not benefit patients – because despite quick success, a cycle of recurring infections often starts. Her concept is more sustainable: "My goal is to rebuild the patients and tell them that it is okay to take a few days to recover with support."

Wiedelmann-Breloer does not only rely on conventional medicine. In addition to vitamin infusion therapies, she also works with alternative medications – the latter in collaboration with a laboratory specializing in plant extracts. Her aim is always an intelligent combination of therapies and the best individual treatment.

"Today, everything always has to be fast. In our practice, we take a close look, and for that, we need to take our time."

And no one leaves her practice without truly helpful tips. Like the recommendation to go outside in the fall and "make the mucous membrane aware that it's getting cold now." Or for cross allergies: eat apples when they are actually in season and not when pollen is flying – then they are usually better tolerated. The tip to pay attention to the vitamin D level is one of her standards because the vitamin is essential for protecting the mucous membrane.

What drives her every day? The love for medicine – and the passion for her profession. "Every patient gives me something as well – sometimes even a completely new perspective on things." She would never want to do anything else, even though there are phases that are challenging. She finds balance in equestrian sports. "When I want to relax, I go to my horses. My great passion. And I play polo." It fits this doctor, who moves daily in the field of tension between energy and calm, between intuition and precision.
